When summer arrives in Øye, the valley holds it well. The mountains shelter the village, the days stretch long into the evening, and the warmth settles in a way that feels particular to this place.
The water stays cold – the fjord runs deep and remembers winter longer than the land does. But that is part of it. A morning swim, a kayak out toward the open water, a hike above the treeline with the valley spread out below. In the evenings, the terrace and the garden come into their own, and the kitchen follows the season closely.
The pace here is unhurried. The setting is extraordinary. Summer in Øye is worth the journey.

Union Øye has been a retreat for love stories since 1891. Surrounded by fjords and mountains, our historic hotel offers the perfect setting for a truly unforgettable romantic escape.
