By plane

Regional airport

The regional airport Ålesund Airport Vigra is located just outside Ålesund. The airport is operated by Avinor and has both international and domestic connections. KLM has daily direct flights to and from Schiphol, and Wizzair has connections both to Poland and Estonia. From March this year, there will be direct routes from and to Copenhagen with SAS.

Nearest airport

The nearest airport is Ørsta Volda airport Hovden. The airport is operated by Avinor and has several daily arrivals and departures to and from Oslo and Bergen with Widerøe. From the airport, it is approx a 1 hour drive to Øye. Either through Volda and Norangsdalen or through Ørsta with a ferry boat ride from Sæbø to Leknes.

By car

From Ålesund, Hotel Brosundet, Storfjord Hotel and Ålesund airport Vigra. Via Norangsdal.

Recommended route by car from Ålesund is Fv60 via Sykkylven and Strandafjellet. This will also take you through the magnificent Norangsdalen. This narrow valley is known for the small, old farmhouses and the famous Lygnstøylsvatnet, which is Norway's version of Atlantis. The trip takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. 1 ferry.

From Ålesund, Hotel Brosundet, Storfjord Hotel and Ålesund airport Vigra. Via Sæbø.

It is also possible to follow E39 from Ålesund to Ørsta, then drive Fv655 to Sæbø and take the ferry to Lekneset, and the last 8 km to Øye. The trip takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. 2 ferries.

From Bergen. Fastest route.

Fastest route from Bergen to Øye is to follow E39 to Grodås, then drive Fv60 through the magnificent Norangsdalen. This narrow valley is known for the small, old summer farms, and the famous Lygnstøylsvatnet who is Norways Atlantis. The trip takes approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes. 2 ferries.

From Bergen. Via Sogndal, Skei and Loen.

It is also possible to drive E16 to Skei. This route will take you through Sogndal, and you will have the possibility to see Bøya glacier. We can recommend a stop at the glacier museum in Fjærland. This museum is also known for its architecture, so it is well worth a stop. From Skei follow E39 to Grodås, and from there follow Fv 60 to Øye. This drive will also take you through the village of Loen, where a stop at Loen Skylift is recommended. The trip takes approximately 7 hours and 15 minutes. 1 ferry.

From Trondheim. Fastest route.

Follow E39 towards Ålesund, at the road crossing at Valle drive towards Sykkylven on rv656. Take the ferry from Magerholm to Ørsneset, and follow rv60 to Hellesylt, and then follow rv 655 to Øye. Approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes. 3 ferries.
