Christmas celebrations

A cozy, festive lounge with a roaring fireplace, Christmas stockings, garland, and a coffee table with snacks.

Celebrations in the heart of the fjords

Christmas at Union Øye is celebrated the way it has always been in Norway – with candlelight, good food, and the kind of quiet that only comes when the mountains are deep in snow. Festive dinners, homemade cookies, seasonal activities, and evenings of storytelling by the fire make for a Christmas that feels both unhurried and full.

Outside, the winter landscape offers its own reward – long walks in the cold air, the stillness of the fjord, and the particular beauty of this place in the darkest weeks of the year.

The program

The magic days of Christmas

The Christmas programme at Union Øye unfolds across the festive days with a mix of celebration, tradition, and the particular pleasures of winter in the fjords. Across the stay, expect Afternoon Tea in Solstua, a guided walk through the valley on Christmas morning, sauna mornings by the fjord with a bonfire, a traditional Norwegian Christmas Eve dinner in The Conservatory, and a five-course New Year's Eve celebration to close the year.

Between the organised moments, the house is yours – a puzzle by the fire, a game of snooker, an afternoon in the library, or simply a long walk in the winter air followed by warmth indoors.
