Hjørundfjord is one the most beautiful fjords in all of Norway.

Sheer mountainsides rise from the deep fjord – this is the heartland of the Sunnmøre Alps.

Ever since the 1850s, emperors and lords and mountaineers have sought out the sights along its shores.

The dramatic combination of towering mountains, tranquil fjords and charming villages make this an unforgettable excursion. Worth noting, the enchanting Hotel Union Øye is situated at the head of the Norangsfjord, an arm of the Hjørundfjord. The Hotel is a perfect stop for lunch or an overnight stay. Hotel Union Øye is open from late April to mid December.

Norangsdalen is one of the narrowest valleys in Norway, rich in both spectaculare sceneries as well as cultural memories. The valley bears the scars of the battle against the forces of nature. As you drive thorught the valley you'll find Lyngstøylvannet. The lake known as Lygnstøylvatnet was formed by a rock fall from Keipen in 1908. Beneath the waters of the lake, you can still see remains of the old road, the foundations of historic farmhouses.

After the "Silver cruise" in 1993 to celebrate the Silver wedding of the King and Queen of Norway, Norangsdalen was given the name "The Queen Route".
